today i had a very interesting encounter with thorium. well it was´nt. with natural thorium ore but with something that you could get in a store but at times it can be rare to find well for people who don´t know what i´m talking about it is i lantern mantles that contain thorium 232 in them. on the geiger counter they measured around 1000 cpm. their manufactured in china or indonesia i could tell because of the cover it says butterfly and the writing is in an asian language but i do not care so much for that but more to the radioactivity and radiation it gives off.
