radioactivity is a force in nature a force that comes from a atom when it is unstable and it decays to become stable. for this their are 3+1 types of radiation the three types are alpha, beta, and gamma. the +1 radiation is x rays. the molecule displayed in the image on the right is a alpha particle alpha decay is composed of two electrons and two helium atoms. alpha decay is the weakest type of decay on

a beta particle is the next type of decay it is composed of very fast traveling electrons. it can penetrate through paper (something that alpha particles cant do) but the beta particles cant penetrate through thick wood or plastic. the photo below shows yo what a beta particle can look like. also you can find beta´s in strontium 90. strontium 90 can be found in fallout experiments and it can be made in a nuclear reactor.
the last of the 3 radiations are gamma rays. gamma rays are not much of a particle decay but they are rays of photons that can penetrate more and are the worst type of radiation outside and inside the body gamma is used around us all the time you can see it coming from space and in nuclear medicine gamma is used for cancer therapy. you can find gamma rays in cesium 137 it is a gamma emitter and it is made in nuclear reactors.
the +1 radiation is x rays. x rays are another type of radiation x rays are used in nuclear medicine such as x rays. you can find x rays in x ray tube that is when tungsten is bombarded by fast electrons and then become x radiation.
